Varsity Coaches

Thomas Gerds -- Head Coach

Born and raised in Ocala, Florida, Coach Gerds had a highlight Varsity Baseball career while at Forest High School and was part of an All-Star team from Central Florida playing on college campuses throughout the South.  Coach Gerds graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in History and Education.  He began his coaching career at his Alma Mater coaching the Junior Varsity Baseball Team.  Coach Gerds teaches Driver Education in addition to his History and coaching duties. 


Kevin McClure -- Assistant Coach

Kevin McClure is a full-time college student at UNF finishing up his double major in Business Management and Marketing with plans to go straight through for a master's degree in Human Resources.  He is also working as a substitute teacher at Ridgeview.  He was a three year Varsity player at Ridgeview High School, having played middle infield for the Panthers.  During his time at Ridgeview he had the opportunity to play in Hawaii with some elite players from all over the nation from his graduating class.  After high school he received a scholarship to play baseball at Faulkner State in Bay Minette, Alabama where he played middle infield for two years as a Sunchief.  This is his second year as a Panther baseball coach.

 



Junior Varsity Coaches

Brian Cox -- Head Coach

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Fl, Coach Cox is married with three children, ages 10, 7, and 5.  Sydney is the oldest followed by Andrew and finally Allison.  He recieved his bachelors in Varying Exceptionalities from Nova Southeastern University after attending Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.  He is currently attending the University of Phoenix working on a master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision.  Over the past decade or so, Coach Cox has been at three different high schools, coaching a variety of sports including football, wrestling, weightlifting, soccer, and now baseball.  Currently, he teaches Informal Geometry at Ridgeview High School.  

    




Atheletic Director

Bob Adamson 

It's all about sports at the Adamson House, and always has been.  Coach Adamson was in the top 10 for baseball hits and football receptions, making All-State in both sports while at Gainesville's PK Yonge High School.  He signed with the University of Florida Gators for a full baseball scholarship, earning Rookie of the Year honors his freshman year.  Although he suffered a career ending injury his sophmore year, Coach Adamson began his coaching career that has now spanned over 25 years.  After graduating from the University of Florida, he coached and taught at Gainesville High School and was named Coach of the Year three times before moving to Orange Park and Ridgeview High School.
